A Message from Paul...
A lady in her 60's came to one of my 90 minute workshops and proudly showed me the "adult" piano course she was taking. I will not mention the name of said course, but I opened the book in the middle, and guess what the song was? --- "London Bridge is Falling Down"!
You can go to any music store and look at their so-called "adult" and "children" courses and they are virtually identical! Another thing that never ceases to amaze me is that here we are in the 21st Century and most piano teachers (and schools, for that matter) still use the same 17st Century methods that Mozart and Beethoven used.
Like so many aspiring players, I took years of these boring old piano lessons as a child. I hated them! Not long after these lessons ceased, I forgot practically everything I had learned! I've been teaching piano since 1994 and I've heard the same story countless times. People have told me they have taken as much as 5, 7 even up to 12 years od lessons with very little or no success as adults! This might even be your story. Thank God I discovered the power of chords at age 27. Within a year, I became the piano player of my church.
In 1994 I discovered my passion for teaching piano when I was recruited by the founder of the Australian based Music Logic Method to become his first teacher in the United States. I always felt however that through the use of chords I could develop a faster and easier way to teach adults to play popular music. My family & I moved to Canada in 2000 (we have resided in Calgary, Alberta since 2004). In Canada I created and developed my own unique chord approach which has since evolved into The Amazing Chord Power System©.
What is truly amazing is that because I was already an adult when I learned to play the piano, I had created a method that made it so incredibly easy for even middle-aged or older adults to play rich and full sounding music. I have incorporated dozens of shortcuts or strategies I have learned over the years and have used in my own playing. As a "late bloomer" I didn't want to waste any time in getting from point A to point B so I learned to challenge methods I saw in music books and developed my own easier systems. These accomplished the same thing the other methods were teaching except you got there a whole lot quicker and with much less effort!
Since creating The Amazing Chord Power System™, I have personally taught nearly a thousand middle-aged and older adults in Western Canada. This all-new 6th Edition of my Chord Power Foundations Course is my very best product to date. Through the miracle of online computer technology it is now possible to coach you, my new adult student wherever you may be in North America or the world to the fulfillment of your piano playing dreams! But truly nothing beats having a live coach to guide you that is why presently we have coaches in Calgary, Edmonton, Strathmore, Airdrie, & Lethbridge. It is my goal to have piano coaches all over North America in the next 5 years (all over Canada in 2).
