The Journey So Far… and What’s Still to Come
You’ve found your way to my website, and I’m grateful you’re here. This isn’t just a platform for selling a book or promoting a course. It’s the place where I share the best of what I’ve spent a lifetime learning, doing, teaching, and refining. It’s also the launchpad for what comes next.
Right now, the focus is on my recently published book From Love to Love, but this is just the beginning. This site will continue to grow as I add new material, courses, and writings. You’re welcome to return often, browse what’s available, and take part in anything that resonates with you.
Let me tell you a little more about what you’ll find here… and why I believe it might speak to you.
Christian Faith & Spirituality
A lifetime of study. A faith that grows deeper still.
I’ve been a student of the Bible since I was a boy. Raised Catholic and educated in Dominican schools, I learned my faith through catechism, rituals, and the Bible stories of childhood. At age 26, I became an evangelical Christian and began a new chapter of deeper study, preaching, and theological training.
I served as a pastor for 15 years and preached hundreds of Sunday sermons. I also attended seminary for a year. But beyond those formal roles, I’ve continued my lifelong habit of reading, learning, and praying through the mystery and beauty of our faith.
Over time, my theology softened and deepened. Through the study of contemplative Christianity, the writings of mystics, and the voices of spiritual teachers outside the mainstream, I came to see God not as a scorekeeper but as the Source of Infinite Love.
My faith is no longer about certainty or having all the right answers. It’s rooted in trust, love, and connection… a living relationship with a God of grace. That’s the faith that sustained me through the darkest trials of my life, including the loss of two of my daughters, nine years apart.
I recently wrote my first book, From Love to Love, to describe that journey. Not as a lecture, but as a story. I believe it’s the first of several books I’ll write on this subject. God willing, I’ve got a lot more to say.
Music Education
I’ve been a musician most of my life… piano, guitar, voice, and songwriting are all part of my story.
Though I took years of piano lessons as a child (and some guitar lessons later on), I never became the kind of musician I hoped to be through traditional training. Like so many others, I could read notes but I couldn’t just sit down and play. It wasn’t until I taught myself chords that things finally clicked. In a relatively short time, I became a regular piano (or guitar) player at my church.
That led to more exploration, more shortcuts, and ultimately more breakthroughs. Without realizing it at the time, I was developing a completely original way to play the piano using chords… one that would become the Chord Power System.
In 2003, I compiled everything I’d learned into a method I could teach to others. What started as a simple workshop idea became a full-blown movement. Over the next 19 years, my family and I… my wife Lee, daughters Noelle and Tiffany, and son David… ran thousands of live piano workshops across 31 U.S. states and 7 Canadian provinces. We helped thousands of adult students (including many seniors!) discover that yes, they really could learn to play.
Though I’ve retired from road tours, I still teach piano students from my home in Calgary over Zoom. And I’ll be making the Chord Power System available right here on this site for those who want to learn piano in a fun, flexible, chord-based way.
Health & Fitness
Simple, sustainable, and finally… successful
Like many people, I spent much of my adult life trying to get healthy… with mixed results. I ran. I lifted weights. I even dabbled in martial arts. And I tried just about every diet program out there. Some of them worked for a while. Most didn’t stick.
To be honest, I didn’t maintain consistency. Raising a family and running a traveling piano business gave me all the excuses I needed. But in recent years… in this semi-retired chapter… something shifted. I got serious.
I began focusing not just on what I ate, but on how I ate. I learned to slow down during meals. I began listening to my body and stopped eating when I felt satisfied. That one shift changed everything. No gimmicks. No starvation. No miracle products.
The results were real. I lost 40 pounds. And more importantly, I’ve kept it off.
My son David, who’s an experienced personal trainer, created a weight training plan for me. One that was simple AND doable! He plugged it into an app, I followed it, and within a few weeks, I started gaining strength. I began walking regularly… about 5,000 steps a day… and lifting weights for 30 minutes, four times a week. Even better, my wife and I started going to the gym together. It’s become one of the highlights of our week.
The teacher in me is already outlining a book about this journey… something practical and inspiring, focused on eating slower, stopping when full, and keeping things simple. By doing so, consistency, which is the key to long term success… is achievable!
The Big Picture
A friend once called me a “renaissance man.” I’ll take it.
I’ve lived a life full of faith, creativity, music, family, travel, and transformation. And I truly believe this final chapter of life can be the richest of them all.
This site is where I bring those passions together. You’ll find stories, books, music, teachings, and tools here in the months ahead… all rooted in real experience and offered with an open hand.
Welcome to paulneill.com. I’m glad you’re here.
